In about a month and a half on January 26, 2013 Phantom of the Opera will celebrate 25 years on Broadway! For awhile we phans thought we had no chance to get tickets at all, but just today a contest was released! It's a very simple contest you just have to enter your e-mail address through facebook. You get a personal contest link and you receive an extra entry every time someone else enters their e-mail under your link.
http://woobox.com/qddx6f/2h3bw5
This is my link! Please click on it if you are reading and haven't entered the contest yet!
For an alternative in case you don't win the contest (as many of us will probably lose) the phans are getting tickets for the Friday night show before the anniversary performance. I am going to attempt to buy tickets from the box office tomorrow I hope there's some left.
If I find out any other updates I'll write them up.

Sexy Phantom December 2012
It's December! It's that magical time of the year, the holidays and the end of the year are upon us....maybe even the end of the world (although I really hope not because phantom has to officially have 25 years on Broadway). As a holiday present to phans every year I picked Anthony Warlow as the sexy phantom. This was yet another suggestion from Jen Lau :)
The thing I love most about Mr. Warlow is his baldness. I'm being serious. I'm a weird chick and I actually find bald men to be very attractive. A small part of the reason as to why I married Shawn. So he's a sexy phantom that reminds me of my husband because they are both bald to me it's a double win!
One last virtual gift as I close this entry. A photo of MC decked up for Christmas courtesy of Sally Scheef!

Sexy Phantom November 2012 JAMES ROMICK
Mr. Romick in sad action |
This month's Sexy Phantom is James Romick! He's an understudy for the role of the phantom. When I first saw him I wasn't too impressed, but then I saw him again and liked his performance. This month's sexy phantom pick is credited to Jen Lau!
James Romick unmasked (personally I find him sexier in phantom gear) |
Awesome photo, I think he may have been above the staircase at the back entrance of the majestic not sure if I'm right though. |

31 Days of Costume - October 31, 2012 - Phantom's Red Death the Webber Musical
Happy Halloween dear PHellow PHans. I end the 31 Days of Costume adventure with the phantom's red death Masquerade costume from the Webber musical. I love the detail, the red color, the skeleton head, the cape, the feathery mask, Maria Bjornson managed to make the phantom fit into the Masquerade scene very well.
31 Days of Costume - October 30, 2012 - Lon Chaney's Phantom
Lon Chaney's costume is best known for his make up. Known as the man of 1,000 faces, IMO Chaney bought phans the most true to life Erik possible. This is also appropriate scariness for the day before Halloween.
31 Days of Costume - October 29, 2012 - The Phantom's Masquerade Costume circa 2004
The Phantom's red death Masquerade Costume from the 2004 movie isn't as good as red death in the Webber musical but it's still interesting enough for a feature. Gerard Butler reminds me of Paris 1880s meets phantom meets a Western flick. His body is more visible in this movie costume, then in the musical. Maybe they were trying to play up GB's sexiness.
a little humor with this entry |
31 Days of Costumes - October 28, 2012 - Christine's Wishing Costume circa 2004
I love Christine's wishing costume from 2004. I love the gothic black lacy long dress, along with the cloak. I love the bouquet of red roses she holds in her hand to add color to the costume. I love the full cemetery scene in the movie.
detail of her wishing costume also next to a comparison of the stage version |
31 Days of Costumes - October 27, 2012 - Christine's wishing cloak
This cloak isn't as beautiful as the AIAOY cloak it's very basic but it has a nice shimmer to it. I don't appreciate the red scarf she wears since Raoul retrieved it from the sea for her but I could understand the design element of adding some slight color to an otherwise all blue costume. It could also be there for symbolism signifying the safety she feels with that FOP, even though he can't protect her for anything.
31 Days of Costumes - October 26, 2012 - Christine's All I Ask of You cloak
I really detest the song All I Ask of You. I'm with the majority of phans who adore Erik, and this song hurts him badly so I don't like it. But the cloak Christine wears is absolutely beautiful and it does deserve a feature (even if she's embracing Raoul while she wears it). The color is beautiful, the pattern of circular floral swirls is breathtaking, the outer edge of purple ruffles completes the look of a dazzling cloak. This might also be an easy cosplay cloak to recreate for an extremely novice sewer.

31 Days of Costume - October 25, 2012 - Joseph Buquet's costume
This is not one of the more memorable costumes in the play but it deserves mention because Buquet is a memorable funny character. The costume is your basic bummy stage hand gear circa Paris 1880s, with the accessory of a punjab lasso.
31 Days of Costumes - October 24, 2012 - Maury Yeston/Arthur Kopit Phantom costume
The Yeston/Kopit Phantom costume is similar to the Charles Dance 1990 mini series costume. Actually the Charles Dance mini series is based on the Yeston/Kopit musical. The photo of this costume is from a recent production in Belleport, NY - which I want to kick myself for missing out on.
31 Days of Costumes - October 23, 2012 - Piangi's Hannibal Costume
This costume in my opinion is one of the better ones Piangi wears. The hannibal costumes are pretty amazing and very uniform in color throughout each costume.

31 Days of Costume - October 22, 2012 - The Monkey Masquerade Costume
This is another awesome masquerade costume. The costume is a real life monkey playing the symbols. The detail, the fur, the awesome tights, the non scary factor of a character because I can see their face (okay best not to write about my silly fear of disney characters here- too late). This is one of the funniest costumes in the show as well. Nobody makes a better monkey costume then Kaedra!
31 Days of Costumes - October 21, 2012 - Triangle Girl Masquerade costume
The triangle girl is another noticeable winning Masquerade costume. The costume features many colors of the rainbow, as well as funky tights like Meg's Masquerade costume, and the monkey masquerade costume. I'm partially obsessed with funky tights, I try to buy a pair when I can and wear them when I can even to work.
31 Days of costumes - October 20, 2012 - Half Man Half woman masquerade costume
Been in a Masquerade mood for the past few costume entries. It is the month of Halloween, so Masquerade is very much encouraged. I've always been fascinated by the half man half woman masquerade costume. It's ornately detailed, and put together very well. The mask always makes me think this costume is the costume the phantom could be hiding under, even though we all know he comes to the ball as red death.
31 Days of costumes - October 19, 2012 - Meg's Masquerade Costume
Meg's Masquerade costume from the Webber stage musical also rocks. It's got a lovely pink jacket, awesome boots and kick ass tights. It's also something on my hopeful cosplay list. Now that Terry is home a lot, and she has some sewing skills perhaps she'll help me create some costumes.
31 Days of Costumes - October 18, 2012 - Carlotta's Masquerade Costume
I love Carlotta's Masquerade costume from the Webber musical. It's sparkly, black, spooky, gothic and pretty at the same time. It also resembles a darker, similar version to Christine's star princess. There's many costumes I eventually want to try to make for cosplay or perhaps buy, this is one of the costumes further down on my list.
31 Days of Costumes - October 17, 2012 - The Phantom's costume for the 1990 Charles Dance Film
In 1990 a made for TV mini series of Phantom of the Opera premiered on television, starring Charles Dance. This was my first encounter with the phantom, even though I didn't become a phan until a few years later when I was 11. The phantom's costume is your basic phantom wear, a men's suit, a cape, the gloves and a mask. In this version as well as the Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit Phantom, the phantom wears a full length mask and he picks out a mask that coincides with his mood at the time.
31 Days of Costumes - October 16, 2012 - Christine's evening gown circa the Hammer Horror 1962 film
I have a crappy photo of this costume, I wanted to feature the evening gown Christine Charles wears in the 1962 Hammer Horror film because it's pretty. I thought I remembered the gown being gold, but in this photo it appears to be a peach color. It's a full length gown from what I remember it has an A line long skirt with some rouching on it, but my memory may not be correct.
31 Days of Costumes - October 15, 2012 - Mme. Giry's costumes circa 2004 movie
Originally I was trying to feature Mme. Giry's Masquerade costume from the Webber stage musical. When I searched for photos it appeared that her masquerade costume is the same as her every day wear, so I'm featuring a head shot of her 2004 movie masquerade costume and a 3/4 length body shot of her every day wear in the 2004 movie. Personally I think the 2004 version of Mme. Giry looks much too young and friendly.
31 Days of Costume - October 14, 2012 - Christine's Amnita circa 2004
This is the Amnita version of Christine's costume for the 2004 musical bought to celluloid by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Although this costume is pretty simple, the detail is quite nice and it's a pretty awesome costume. I'm partial to it because right now it's the only phantom cosplay costume I actually own. Also the red rose in Emmy's hair is just beautiful.

31 Days of Costume - October 13, 2012 - Christine's Wishing Twisted Dress
This dress is featured in the Webber musical. Christine wears it during the twisted notes scene in Act II and also wears it during Wishing with a cloak and red scarf. This is also one of the dresses I'd like to eventually cosplay in. The pattern of the dress reminds me of a Victorian wallpaper, it's very beautiful and has some great detail.
31 Days of Costume - October 12, 2012 - Meg Giry's ballerina girl costume
This is a simple costume from the Lloyd Webber musical. It's a simple white bodice with a short A line skirt/tutu. This is the ordinary or every day costume for Meg Giry and also the costume for the rest of the ballet girls in the musical. I believe this costume was based on Degas' ballerinas, or at least I've heard and read his name in connection with these costumes.
31 Days of Costume - October 11, 2012 - The Manager's Masquerade costumes
Surprisingly my photo search didn't yield many photos for my blog use. I wanted to feature the manager's masquerade costumes. Generally the manager's costumes are just an ordinary reflection of the time period the story takes place in. The masquerade costumes stand out, especially the skeleton costume with glitter accents which is revealed after the manager's find each other on stage and breath a sigh of relief as the second act of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical beings. It's one of the funnier moments of the play, one I look forward to every time I go.
31 Days of Costume - October 10, 2012 - Christine's Think of Me gown circa 2004 movie
Unfortunately the 2004 Phantom of the Opera has a few flaws, however I did enjoy some of the costumes from the movie. I love Christine's Think of Me gown from the movie. This gown would have also made a good wedding dress since it's predominately white with some gold accents. To me this gown says starts out subtle then wows you once your eyes travel to the bottom of the gown. If we want to get into potential symbolism here we could say it's representative of Christine's performance, since traditionally many Christine's I've seen tend to perform the song in a low nervous voice at the beginning, then become vocally stronger as the song continues finishing off with a tremendous vocal wow factor by the end of the song.
31 Days of Costume - October 9, 2012 - Hannibal Slave Girl Costume
This costume is from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, it's worn by the ballet girls during the Hannibal scene. Christine also wears this costume, her first appearance in the musical is actually in this costume. These costumes are ornate and IMO they are the costumes that make every male phantom phan drool.
31 Days of Costume - October 8, 2012 - Christine's title song/MOTN robe
This costume isn't as stunning or as ornately detailed as Christine's other costumes in the musical. It's still pretty, it's plain with ruffly lace on the bottom of the dressing robe/gown and on the sleeves. She also wears it during the title song and MOTN, which IMO are the two best scenes in the musical.
